Rate of technology development

It seems that the growth of a particular technology tends to increase at the rate of two times every two years as exemplified in Moore’s “Law”

It is also the case with the growth of photovoltaic (data is from the last table, column headed Gen (TWh)):

Photovoltaic cells were first invented in the 50’s and had been used for powering satellites. I have arbitrarily started the line in 1972 when the need for solar power was identified by LtG.

Another example is the output of LED lighting:

I have superimposed the black line which corresponds to a doubling every two years.
